St James' PTA
St James' PTA
The PTA is a registered charity whose purposes are to: raise money for the school; support an event programme for the children at the school to enjoy; and to bring the school community together.
There are four trustees, Lydia Lee, John Haynes, Jack Gibbs and John Oakley. The trustees are supported by a wider committee which any parent, carer or teacher at the school can join.
To get in touch with the PTA email hello@stjamespta.co.uk.
What does the PTA committee do?
The PTA committee:
- Holds regular second hand uniform sales.
- Manages the summer fair.
- Supports each year group to deliver an event or activity for the school community, as well as any individuals/groups who would like to run a school community event.
- Administers the purchase of group tickets and other opportunities.
Taking part
Each year group is asked to deliver one activity/event each year. Below is a list of each year group’s assigned activity. However, a year group can decide to do something completely different, just email the PTA and we can check that the school is happy with your alternative activity.
Each year group is also asked to contribute to the summer fair by organising a stand/activity.
In addition, any parent or carer at the school can run additional events to support the school. So if you would like to organise a fun run or a bake sale for example please get in touch. The PTA can assist you with taking payments, checking risk registers, licenses, and coordinating access to the school hall.

Where does the money raised go?
The profits generated by the PTA are donated to the school, to help contribute towards the costs of large expenditure that will enhance the learning of the pupils at the school. Historically the donations have paid for things such as the forest school log cabin, play equipment, and iPads.
Match funding
If you work for a company that offers match funding or could donate goods that we can sell or use as prizes please get in touch.
Easyfunding
We’ve registered St James Schools PTA - Tunbridge Wells with #easyfundraising, which means over 7,000 brands will now donate to us every time you use #easyfundraising to shop with them. Sign up to support us – it’s completely free and doesn’t take long.
Clothing bank
Outside the Reception class entry steps, there is a recycling bank, this is for all clothes, paired shoes, handbags and more. We get paid per kilo donated.
