The following all received Golden Awards this week. In Year 3: Gabriel, for always being focused and ready to learn: Daniel M, for great listening skills & a good attitude to learning and Alfie, for consistently working hard in maths lessons & has shown great improvement. In Year 4: Lara F, for her careful & accurate editing of a piece of writing: Aimee W, for her wonderful attitude to her learning & her hard work & perseverance & Eva S, for great writing about the Roman invasion & a super attitude to learning. In Year 5: William W, for outstanding writing on early writing in ancient civilisations: Sophie F, for excellent work in maths, converting fractions & Vakashne, for being a brilliant brain buddy & having perfect presentation. In Year 6: Ashton, for making amazingly hard to improve his reading & writing: Elsie, for being a superstar, being brilliant with the laptops & very willing to assist her peers & Jasmine J, for her beautiful topic work & commitment to the dance team.
Congratulations to Dormouse Class, this week’s winners of the ‘Shell Award, by just 1 ‘Shell’. They will receive some additional free-time at the end of the week. All Year 4 will be able to go on the bank at break and lunchtime on Friday, weather permitting.
Accelerated Reader Challenge
Congratulations to Hollie, in Dormouse Class, who has read the most words 1,312,627: Hannah, in Badger Class has achieved the most quizzes with 100%, and Swift Class, have read the most words as a class, 3,877,124 words.
Times Tables Rock Stars Challenge
Maths challenge across KS2, with a display on the top corridor, with two challenges for all pupils to take part in. Speed at answering questions, an average across the class, Dormouse Class. The class with the highest average number of points per pupil was Deer Class.
Everyone has been thinking their impact on the environment. Classes are more aware of saving energy and turning lights and electrical devices off when they are not in the room, also recycling paper and using it as draft or scrap paper. The ‘Green Team’, which consists of a member from each class across KS2, check classrooms every day and each week the totals of ‘green’ tokens are counted up. Congratulations to all the year 5 classes and Stoat class, who all gained the maximum number of tokens.
Year 3/4 Indoor Athletics
Last Thursday, 6th February, the Year 3/4 Indoor Athletics Team went to the Angel Centre in Tonbridge to compete. They did really well and finished in third place, out of the 11 schools that took part. The 1+1 Boys Lap Relay team finished in 1st place; as did the 2+2 lap relay team, who also gained the fastest time in the history of the competition! The team also finished in 1st place in the Boys 4x1 lap relay, javelin, hurdles, long jump & the girls chest push. Mr Hodges reported he was very proud of the whole team, who were a credit to the school & behaved brilliantly.
Bedgebury 5 Mile Run
Congratulations to Charlotte, in Year 3, who recently took part in a 5 mile run at Bedgebury with her dad & finished in second place; it was rather hilly and very muddy!! She proudly showed her medal.
